By 1880, Jacob, was now 41 years old and was living next to his
father in Henrietta Township of Jackson County. Minerva at 33

at age 16 and Harvey was 10 years old. Both Herbert and Harvey
were attending school. Jennie was 7 and James was 6 months old.

Somtime between 1880 and 1888, Jacob moved to the new place
near Leslie, Michigan in Ingham, County. Leslie is shown on the
2003 map at the right, about 20 miles north of Jackson.

In 1890 he was reported on the Census of Civil War Veterans as
living in Leslie. When he applied for a pension because of war
service, he then made it known that he had used the alias of James
Rogers, for his military service. He received the pension for his
service in the 4th Light Artillery in Wisconsin.

In 1894, came the last of the children when Julia was born on
August 9th. Jacob was then 55 and Minerva was a remarkable
47 years old.

By 1900, Jacob, at age 60, was living with his family in Leslie Village. Minerva was now 52 years old. Minerva said that they had been married 36 years and that she had given birth to 11 children but only 6 were living at that time. Jesse R., was 17 years old and working as a garden laborer. Jossie E., was 14, Walter H., was 12 and Julia A., was 6. Jossie, Walter and Julia had all attended school within the last year.

Jacob's first son Herbert, at age 32 was living close by with his wife Ida who was 27 and their daughter Mildred who was just five years old but attending school. Herbert was working at what he called a "commercial traveler."

In 1910 only the two youngest kids remained
living with their parents on Meeker Street in
Leslie. Walter was now 21 years old and was
working as a lineman for a rural telephone
company. Julia was 15 years old and still
attending school.

The map at the right shows the where Meeker
Street is located in Leslie Village, just above
the blue star. The red star is the approximate
position on Mill Street where Julia Ripley
(Pixley) and her husband Lloyd Pixley lived,
when Lloyd passed away.
